Round 2 of the 2025 Supercars Championship saw the field head to Victoria for the 2025 MSS Security Melbourne SuperSprint. Sharing the same weekend as the 2025 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, the Supercars took to Albert Grand Prix Circuit for Race 4, 5, 6, and 7 of the 2025 Championship. Piloting the Tickford Racing Mustangs, we had Cam Waters in the No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang and Thomas Randle in the No.55 Castrol Racing Ford Mustang.
Thanks to the Formula 1, the Supercars action kicked off a little earlier than usual with both practice sessions and qualifying for Race 4 and 5, and Race 4 itself taking place throughout Thursday. Practice 1 would see Waters go fourteenth-fastest in the session with Randle right behind him in fifteenth. Practice 2 would see the duo move further up the pack with Waters claiming the eleventh fastest lap and Randle taking twelfth.
Qualifying for Race 4 would prove challenging for the duo, with Waters and Randle coming out of the session with respective P21 and P22 results. Race 5 Qualifying would see Waters work his way up into the top ten to claim a P6 start on the grid for Saturday’s race with Randle earning himself a P18 qualifying result.
An epic showing from both Waters and Randle in Race 4 would see them both fight hard from the back of the pack with 29 track passes between the two of them throughout the 18-lap affair. They would ultimately end the day in the top ten with Waters claiming a P6 race result and Randle close behind with a P8 finish.
Race 5 would kick away on Saturday afternoon with Waters taking his P6 start all the way to the end with a P6 finish after numerous interruptions throughout the race. Meanwhile, Randle would end the day with a P20 race result after losing his left front tyre in an incident.
Saturday’s on-track festivities would start with Race 6 Qualifying and see yet another challenging outing for the Tickford duo. Randle would come out of the session with a P13 result with Waters finding himself further down the pack in P19. Waters would turn things around in Race 7 Qualifying, earning himself a P5 start on the grid for Sunday’s race with Randle claiming a P12 qualifying result.
Race 6 would cap off Saturday with another chaotic outing. Waters would manage to claw his way back into the top ten, crossing the finish line in P9 despite a multitude of disruptions. Meanwhile, Randle would suffer from a number of incidents, ultimately sending the Castrol Racing Mustang home to a P17 race result.
Race 7 would take place on Sunday morning, but would be abandoned after only two laps due to heavy rain.
With the 2025 Melbourne SuperSprint in the rear-view, Cam Waters finds himself at 2nd on the ladder with 460 points. Meanwhile, Thomas Randle moves to 9th on the ladder with 260 points. In the Teams Championship, we see Tickford Racing move to 2nd place with 720 points.
